Founded in 2013, Metanormal’s maiden feature film "Kothanodi", was the first Assamese language film globally licensed by Netflix. Company’s second production "Aamis", had its World Premiere at 2019 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Both films are currently available worldwide on the major Indian OTT platform, SonyLiv.

Metanormal's third feature, "Emuthi Puthi" ("A Very Fishy Trip") is the first first feature from North-East India to be shot completely on iPhone and was released theatrically across its regional market in June, 2022. The film is now streaming in North America (Prime Video), UK (Channel 4) and Australia (SBS).

"Second Chance," our fourth feature production, is director Subhadra Mahajan's debut film and premiered at the ​​58th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and is being rolled out to audiences across festivals and screens around the world by our world sales partner Diversion.

Current projects include Bhaskar Hazarika’s new works "Keet" (HAF Hong Kong IDP Project Forum 2022) and "Paaltu" (BIFAN It Project Market 2023), as well as Assamese language feature film "Gopal's Brother Gopal," to be directed by Rukshana Tabassum.

Metanormal is led by founder, writer and director Bhaskar Hazarika and co-founder, producer Shyam Bora.
